Human-in-the-Loop: How We Keep Accountability

What is Human-in-the-Loop?
Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) means that high-impact decisions—such as blocking a high-risk AI use, escalating an incident, or changing a policy—are reviewed and approved by trained analysts. Detection and alerting can be automated; the decision to act and the record of who approved it remain with people.
Incident response flow
When our systems detect a potential risk (e.g. confidential data upload, unusual API usage), the following happens:
- Detection & alert — The engine flags the event and creates an alert in the Control Tower.
- Analyst review — An analyst assesses context, severity, and policy. They decide whether to block, escalate, or allow (e.g. false positive).
- Action & log — The chosen action (block, notify, etc.) is executed, and the decision is logged with timestamp and analyst identity for audit.
- Follow-up — If needed, we report to your designated contacts and support remediation.
Approval process
Critical actions (e.g. blocking a department’s AI access, changing a risk classification) require explicit analyst approval. We do not auto-apply such changes without human review. Approval workflows and escalation paths are defined with you during governance design (Tier 2) and reflected in our operating procedures.
Where accountability sits
AIMOaaS™ operates as your outsourced AI management function. Our team is accountable for the execution of monitoring, review, and response within the scope agreed in the contract. Your organization retains overall responsibility for AI governance policy and strategic decisions; we provide the operational layer and evidence (logs, reports) so you can demonstrate due diligence to auditors and regulators.
